VANDALIA -- South Central High School banged out 15 hits and claimed a 9-5 victory over Vandalia in baseball action Wednesday.

The Cougars trailed Vandalia 4-0 after four innings but started to come alive with a three-run fifth then had a four-run sixth and tacked on two more in the seventh.

Trent Geiler had a single and two doubles while Ryan Matheny had two singles, a triple and an RBI. Ryan McCown had a single, double and two RBI and Aaron Patten a single, double and an RBI. Cauy Blomberg contributed two singles and two RBI.

Logan Lotz picked up the pitching win going six innings, allowing seven hits, five runs, two walks and struck out two.

Okaw Valley blanked Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 21-0 in three innings.

Okaw Valley took a 4-0 first inning lead then had a 17-run second inning. Okaw Valley had 14 hits in the contest.

CHBC had three hits led by Jeff Stoldt with a single and double.

At Broadlands

Broadlands Heritage edged Cumberland, 6-5 in action Wednesday.

Broadlands took a 1-0 first inning lead. Cumberland came back with three in the third. Broadlands tied in the fourth. The Pirates took a 5-3 lead in the top of the sixth but Broadlands tied in the bottom of the frame then won it in the seventh.

Both teams had nine hits and two errors. Cumberland was led by Michael Flier with three singles. Brennyn Cutts had a single and an RBI.

Neoga bounced Oblong, 18-2 in five innings Wednesday.

Neoga took a 7-0 opening inning lead and the game was in the win column early.

Evan Fritcher hit a home run and finished with five RBI. Drew Ramert contributed two singles and two RBI.

Fritcher was the winning pitcher, going three innings, allowing one hit, no walks and striking out three.

In a junior varsity contest, Teutopolis edged Effingham St. Anthony, 4-3.

Both teams had seven hits and both teams had three errors.

T-town was led by McMahon with two singles and two RBI and Hemmen with a double. Ungrund picked up the pitching win going 2.2 innings, allowing three hits, no walks and striking out two.

St. Anthony was led by Hoene with two singles and an RBI and Braunecker with a double.
