Teutopolis High School senior Lee Hardiek has signed a letter of intent to play college baseball at Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield.

While off to a great start this season in basketball, Hardiek admits that baseball is his first love. He said the coaching staff at Lincoln Land is looking at him to pitch, but said he can take a shot as a position player.

Hardiek, the son of Jeff and Cindy Hardiek, has plenty of folks he knows who are also athletes for the Loggers. That includes his cousin, Mitch Hardiek, who plays basketball at Lincoln Land, and former teammate Devin Smith who had a great spring on the mound for the Loggers.

Lee's brothers Dillon and Reed, who have also seen success on the diamond, were on hand for Monday's signing ceremony.

Lee said he's looking at studying pre-engineering at Lincoln Land.
