Bulldogs Nab Win Over Indians. Shoes Claim Two

ALTAMONT -- Altamont held the early lead over Effingham St. Anthony High School Saturday in baseball action but eventually the Bulldogs took the lead for good in the fourth inning and won 17-6.

The game was tied at 4-4 going into the fourth. Greg Utz doubled, driving in two runs.

Adam Levitt drove in four runs, going three-for-five at the plate. He had a single in the fourth, a double in the sixth and a double in the seventh.

Altamont took a 2-1 first inning lead and led 3-1 in the second and 4-1 in the third. But the Bulldogs fought back to lead 6-5 after the fourth then had a four-run fifth, a five-run sixth and a two-run seventh.

St. Anthony had only one more hit than the Indians. Austin Kline, Levitt, Utz and Jacob Guy each collected multiple hits for the Bulldogs with Levitt and Kline getting three each.

Altamont had 12 hits led by Alek Biggs, Wyatt Vaughn, Dakota Kuhlman and Brandin Baucum with multiple hits each.

At Decatur

Teutopolis traveled to Mililkin University and picked up two victories Saturday.

T-town beat North Clay (Louisville) 11-1 in six innings. The Shoes held a 5-1 lead after three then had three runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

Dust had a single, double and two RBI while Jansen added two singles and an RBI for the Shoes. Hardiek contributed a double and Funneman a double and two RBI.

North Clay was led by Jones, Aldrich and Burkett with a single each. Aldrich drove in a run.

In the second game, Teutopolis won over Putnam County 15-1 in six innings. The score was tied at 1-1 after three innings before T-town took a 4-1 lead in the fourth then had a four-run fifth and a seventh-run sixth.

Runde had a single and two doubles for the Shoes while Bloemer had two singles, a double and five RBI. Ungrund had a single, double and two RBI, Hardiek two singles and three RBI and Weber a double.

Dust was the winning pitcher on a four-hitter through four innings, two walks and seven strikeouts.
