Effingham Junior HIgh School hosted a buzzsaw Thursday, falling to Charleston 14-1 in five innings of baseball action.

Charleston had a six-run second and a six-run fifth.

Effingham had three hits led by Eaton with a double. The Mustangs drop to 2-8 on the season.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis Junior High School blanked Salem Franklin Park 12-0 in five innings of baseball action Thursday.

The Wooden Shoes had seven hits led by Buehnekermper with two singles and two RBI. Ruholl and Konkel had a single and two RBI each.

Bannick started the contest, going four innings, allowing the only hit of the game, four walks and striking out three. T-town then used five more pitchers.

At Cowden

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City held a 2-0 lead until the fourth inning when Altamont broke loose with four runs then added on six in the fourth and three more in the seventh for a 13-4 win.

Both teams banged out lots of hits. Altamont had 16 led by Reardon with two singles, a double and two RBI, Phillips with four singles, Hammer with three singles and three RBI and Frost with a double and three RBI.

CHBC was led by Buzzard with a double and triple, Burrus and Hilvety-Southard with three singles each and Schlanser with a double.

North Clay (Louisville) came calling and downed Sigel St. Michael 4-2 in action Thursday.

North Clay took a 2-0 first inning lead and had single runs in the fourth andn sixth.

Clifton had three singles and an RBI for the winners.

Niebrugge led the Sharpshooters with a double.
