Effingham St. Anthony claimed a 13-9 win over Shelbyville in boys junior high baseball action Monday.

The two teams were tied at 1-1 in the first inning before Shelbyville took a 3-1 lead in the third. The Bullpups came back with a seven-run fourth and a five-run fifth.

St. Anthony had 11 hits led by Niebrugge with a single, double and four RBI, Hoene and Stewart with two singles and an RBI each and Sehy with a double.

At Effingham

Effingham played host to Centralia and fell 8-1 in action Monday.

The two squads scored a run each in the first inning. Centralia then went ahead with three in the second.

Effingham had seven hits led by Eaton and Burgess with a double each and Volpi with two singles. The Mustangs drop to 1-1 on the season.

Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor blanked Neoga 12-0 in National Trail Conference action Monday in the A contest.

SSW had a three-run first and a nine-run third. Austin Wittenberger threw a one-hitter with no walks and six strikeouts.

Wittenberg also led the team offensively with two hits and an RBI. Wernsing finished with one hit and four RBI. Stew-Stras/Windsor improves to 1-0 in the NTC, 3-0 overall.

Neoga's lone hit came from Bullock.

In the B contest, Neoga took a 2-1 victory. Bryer Hennesay was the winning pitcher. Gage Stevens had ad obule for Neoga.

North Clay (Louisville) trounced Dieterich to the tune of 29-0. North Clay took a 21-0 first inning lead.

North Clay had 20 hits led by Clifton with two singles, a home run and five RBI, Ingram with two singles, a double and four RBI, Dawkins with a double, home run and four RBI, Koelm with a single, double and an RBI, Griffy with a single, double and three RBI and Weidner with two singles and an RBI.

Dieterich had one hit, a single by Dill.

Altamont trailed Mulberry Grove 11-4 after four innings but came back with a seven-run fifth, tallied three in the sixth and one in the seventh for a 15-13 victory.

Hammer had a single, two triples and three RBI for Altamont while Frost had three singles and three RBI. Miller added three singles and Reardon two singles and three RBI.
