Bulldogs Advance To Regional Title Game

Effingham St. Anthony defeated Neoga 11-0 Wednesday in the Class 1A Altamont Baseball Regional to move into the championship game.

The Bulldogs grabbed the early lead with a six-run first as Adam Levitt, Jacob Guy and Bryson Wall all had singles. A wild pitch scored two runs.

Four more runs came across in the second and one in the third to end the game via the 10-run rule.

Colin Koester earned the win on the mound, going four innings, giving up no runs, two hits, one walk and striking out two.

St. Anthony finished with nine hits led by Drew Gibson with a single, triple and an RBI, Greg Utz with a double and an RBI, Joseph Kabbes with a single, double and two RBI and Guy with two singles and an RBI.

Caleb Hill led the Indians with their lone two hits, both singles.

St. Anthony advances to the championship game Saturday at 11 a.m. against either Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg or Altamont. Those two teams play today at 4 p.m.

At Oblong

Dieterich advanced to the championship game of the Class 1A Oblong Regional with a 4-0 win over Hutsonville/Palestine.

The Movin' Maroons held a 1-0 first inning lead then tacked on two more in the second and one in the fourth.

Dieterich had six hits, all singles by P. Thoele, Goedde, Campton, C. Thoele, Schmidt and Bohnhoff. Goedde brought home three runs while Campton had one RBI.

C. Thoele was the winning pitcher on a five-hitter with one walk and five strikeouts in four innings. McClain came on to throw the final three innings, allowing one hit, one walk and striking out one.

At Greenville

Teutopolis blanked Breese Mater Dei 8-0 to advance to the championship game of the Class 2A Greenville Regional.

The Wooden Shoes took a 4-0 first inning lead and never looked back. The Wooden Shoes had 10 hits in the contest with four of those extra base hits. Lane Belleville had a single, home run and three RBI while Lee Hardiek had a single, home run and one RBI. Carson Hartke hit a solo shot. Brant Bueker had a single, double and an RBI and Jason Kenter a double.

Belleville pushed his pitching record to 6-0 with a three-hitter. He allowed one walk and struck out eight.

The Shoes improve to 25-6 while Breese Mater Dei finished the season at 13-15. T-town advances to face either Greenville or Vandalia at 11 a.m. Saturday for the title. Greenville and Vandalia meet today.

At Centralia

North Clay (Louisville) easily disposed of Woodlawn to advance to the championship game of the Class 1A Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran Regional.

The Cardinals won 12-2 and will now take on either Webber Township (Bluford) or South Central at 10 a.m. Saturday for the title. South Central and Webber meet today at 4:30 p.m.

 

At Flora

Breese Central downed Robinson 12-1 in the Class 2A Flora Regional.

Breese Central advances to the championship game Saturday at 11 a.m. Central will face either Newton or Flora. Those two teams play today at 4 p.m.
