Altamont's Caden Miller Earns No-hitter, Area Baseball Roundup

BROWNSTOWN -- Caden Miller threw a perfect game as Altamont blanked Brownstown/St. Elmo 4-0 in baseball action Tuesday.

Miller went all seven innings, allowing no runs on no hits, no walks and striking out 14.

The Indians tallied a run in the first, third, sixth and seventh innings. Altamont had seven hits, all singles by Whitt, Biggs, Robbins, Finn, Vaughn, D. Miller and Pemberton. Altamont improves to 9-12.

Brownstown/St.Elmo drops to 9-12.

Benton took a 3-0 first inning lead but Teutopolis came back with four in the second and tacked on a final run in the seventh.

The Wooden Shoes had nine hits, four of those extra base hits. Hartke had a single, double, home run and an RBI while Kremer had two singles, Belleville a double and Bueker a double and an RBI.

Belleville was the winning pitcher. He went five innings, allowed four hits, three runs, five walks and struck out five.

Dieterich took the early lead and blanked Cumberland 6-0 in Tuesday action.

Dieterich's Schmidt threw a three-hitter with no walks and 10 strikeouts. He also led in hitting with a single, triple and an RBI. Niebrugge contributed two singles and an RBI.

Cumberland was led by Grissom, Talley and Brown with a single each.

At Mount Carmel

North Clay (Louisville) improved to 19-6 on the season with a 7-4 win over Mount Carmel Tuesday.

The Cardinals held a 4-0 lead until the sixth when Mount Carmel tied the score. That sent the game into extra innings and North Clay pulled out the win in the top of the eighth with three runs.

North Clay had five doubles in the game. Jones led the way with two singles and a double while Lovett had a single, double and three RBI. Repking and Bloemer had a double and an RBI each and VanDyke had a double.

Neoga tallied a 5-2 win over Mulberry Grove in action Tuesday.

The Indians held a 2-0 lead in the fourth. Mulberry Grove tied with single runs in the fifth and sixth but Neoga came back with three runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Yurs had a home run and three RBI for the Indians while Fritcher had a single and double, Moran two singles and Butler a home run and two RBI.

Neoga is now 6-12 on the season.

Meinhart was the winning pitcher on a four-hitter with three strikeouts.

Wagy had a single double and two RBI for the Eagles while Geier had a single and double, Meinhart two singles and an RBI and Bierman a single, double and an RBI.

Newton improves to 13-7.
