Effingham's Chad Green is back in the majors with the New York Yankees.

Green was called up Monday to fill a spot on the pitching staff in the wake of the Yankees' 18-inning game Sunday night with the Cubs.

The 25-year-old Green has been starting for the Yankees' Triple-A farm club in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. In five starts, he's 2-1 with a 4.72 ERA. In 26 innings of work, he's recorded 33 strikeouts.
