Dieterich High School stepped out to a 2-0 first inning lead and went on to beat Effingham St. Anthony 12-6 in baseball action Monday.

The Movin' Maroons banged out 16 hits in the contest led by six hitters with two or more hits each. Campton had two singles, a double and drove in three runs while Schmidt had three singles, Niebrugge two doubles and three RBI, Goedde a single, double and an RBI, Bohnhoff a single, double and two RBI, P. Thoele two singles and C. Thoele added a double.

P. Thoele was the winning pitcher on a nine-hitter with one walk and four strikeouts.

St. Anthony was led by Gibson with a single, two doubles and an RBI, Utz with three singles and an RBI and Kabbes with  a double and an RBI.

Neoga handed Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg a rare defeat, 8-4 Monday.

The Indians took a 4-0 first inning lead. WSS tallied a run in the second but Neoga came back with a run in the third. Both teams scored twice in the fifth and once in the sixth.

Neoga pounded out 13 hits in the contest led by Justin Yurs with two singles, a home run and two RBI, Caleb Hill with three singles, a double and an RBI, Drew Ramert with two singles, a home run and five RBI and Layne Andrews with two singles.

The Hatchets were led by Nic Hutchinson with a home run and two RBI.

Neoga improves to 5-10 on the season.

Teutopolis broke open a close game with a seven-run fifth then tacked on three more in the sixth to beat South Central 15-8.

The Wooden Shoes had 15 hits in the contest led by Hartke with a single, two home runs and two RBI, Kenter with a single, two home runs and six RBI, Kramer with three singles and an RBI and Bueker with a single, triple and an RBI.

South Central was led by Geiler with two singles, two doubles and an RBI, Harpster with a single, home run and two RBI, Matheny a single, double and three RBI and Markley with two singles.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City took a 2-0 first inning lead then tallied five in the second and went on to down Ramsey 12-2 in six innings via the 10-run rule Monday.

CHBC had eight hits led by Doty with a single, two doubles and three RBI, Grove with a single, double and two RBI and Miller with a double and an RBI.

N. Miller was the winning pitcher, throwing a three-hitter with four walks and 11 strikeouts.

Nokomis had 10 hits in the game and two pitchers combined for a seven-hitter.

Newton edged Olney 8-7 in action Monday.

The Eagles held a 1-0 first inning lead but Olney came back with two in the third and took a 5-1 lead in the fifth. However, Newton tied the score in the sixth. The two teams went scoreless in the seventh sending the game into extra innings.

Both teams scored one in the eighth and Olney took a 7-6 lead in the top of the 10th. However, Newton came back with two runs to pull out the victory.

Weber had a single, double and two RBI for Newton while Bierman had two singles and two RBI. Geier added a double and an RBI.

Cumberland picked up a Litte Okaw Valley Conference win over Martinsville Monday, 12-1.

The two teams were tied at 1-1 before the Pirates broke loose with an 11-run fourth inning.

Cumberland had 13 hits in the game.
