EIU Baseball Schedule Released

Second-year Head Coach Jason Anderson and the Eastern Illinois baseball team have released their schedule for the upcoming 2017 season. The Panthers will open up the season with 19-straight road games beginning with a three-game series at South Alabama on Feb. 17-19.

The Panthers will look to combine a mixture of returning players with 14 new members who will be playing in an Eastern Illinois uniform for the first time in their career.

Following their opening series at South Alabama, the Panthers will continue their road trip with a four-game set at Central Arkansas (Feb. 24-26). Eastern Illinois will also pay visits to Kansas State (Mar. 3-5), Missouri (Mar. 7), Samford (Mar. 10-12), and Alabama (Mar. 14).

The Panthers will open Ohio Valley Conference play on the road in a three-game series at Jacksonville State (Mar. 17-19). Eastern Illinois will also play OVC series on the road at Tennessee Tech (Mar. 31- Apr. 2), Belmont (Apr. 13-15), Morehead State (Apr. 28-Apr. 30), and SIUE (May 12-14).

EIU will end their season-opening road trip with a single game at Indiana State on Mar. 21 before returning to Coaches Stadium for their 2017 home opener against OVC foe Murray State on Mar. 24-26.

The Panthers will host Ohio Valley conference games this season against Southeast Missouri (Apr. 7-9), Eastern Kentucky (Apr. 21-23), UT Martin (May 5-7), and close the year versus Austin Peay on May 18-20.
Eastern Illinois will host seven non-conference games against a variety of opponents. The Panther will host Robert Morris and Southern Illinois back-to-back on Mar. 28-29. Other home non-conference games include Illinois College (Apr. 5), Illinois Springfield (Apr. 11), Lindenwood-Belleville (Apr. 19), Indiana State (Apr. 25), and Saint Louis (Apr. 26).

Other non-conference road contests this season include games at Saint Louis (Apr. 4), Butler (Apr. 18), and Chicago State (May 9).

The Ohio Valley Conference Tournament will be played at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Ala. It will be the first time the conference tournament will be held at the site. The OVC Tournament is scheduled for May 24-28.
