Dieterich Loses 1-0 in State Quarterfinals

Dieterich saw their junior high baseball season come to an end Friday morning at the State 1A Baseball Tournament in East Peoria.

Pawnee scored a run in the first inning and made it stand up in a 1-0 win over Dieterich.

Dalton Will suffered the tough luck loss, allowing the run on just two hits while striking out seven in five innings of work. Matthew Hunzinger pitched the final two innings, allowing just one hit and fanning two batters.

Hunzinger had two of Dieterich's five hits, including a double. Also with singles for Dieterich: Cooper Bridges, Cory Gephart, and Jack Westendorf.

Dieterich's season ends with a 14-6 record.
