Shoes Keep Rolling, Sweep DH From Altamont, Baseball Roundup

TEUTOPOLIS -- Teutopolis High School just keeps rolling along. The Wooden Shoes swept Altamont in a baseball doubleheader Thursday.

The Wooden Shoes won the opener 7-0. T-town edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead and held that until the fifth, then tallied six runs.

Collin Funneman improved his pitching mark to 3-0 by throwing a three-hitter with no walks and four strikeouts.

Cody Jansen had two singles while Brock Bueker had a single, home run and an RBI, Jason Kenter two singles and Dylan Bloemer a double and an RBI.

Altamont was led by Denver Duckwitz with a double.

In the second game, T-town was a 4-0 winner. Ethyn Dust threw a two-hitter with no walks and 11 strikeouts.

Jared Bloemer had three singles while Jackson Goeckner added two singles and an RBI.

Altamont's two singles came from Dawson Guerrettaz and Aiden Jahraus.

The Shoes are now 19-1 on the season while Altamont drops to 6-7.

T-town will now take on St. Anthony today.

At Dieterich

Dieterich stepped out to a 5-1 first inning lead on Odin and went on for the 9-1 victory.

The Movin' Maroons pounded out 12 hits in the contest led by Matt Goedde with two singles, Callaway Campton, Ryan Radloff and Paul Thoele with two singles and an RBI each.

Thoele was the winning pitcher on a three-hitter over five innings, one walk and three strikeouts.

At Dieterich

At  Cisne

South Central held a 2-1 lead after two innings but Cisne tied in the third then scored what would prove to be the winning run in the bottom of the fourth for a 3-2 victory.

South Central outhit Cisne 7-3 led by Geiler with a solo home run, Matheny with a double and Markley with a double.

Hosselton threw the seven-hitter with two walks and four strikeouts.

At  Vandalia

Mulberry Grove won the championship of the Egyptian-Illini Conference Tournament Thursday with a 4-1 win over Brownstown-St.E lmo.

The score was tied at 1-1 after four innings before Mulberry Grove moved ahead with a two-run fourth and finished out with the win.

Dalton Denton had the lone extra base hit for BSE with a double. BSE drops to 5-7.

Ramsey then edged Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 4-3 in the third place game.

CHBS held a 3-0 lead until the fifth when Ramsey tallied a run then scored two in the top of the seventh to knot the score at 3-3. Ramsey then came through with the winning run in the top of the eighth.

Ramsey had 11 hits while CHBC had six. CHBC was led by Stoldt with two singles and Doty with two singles.
