WINDSOR -- Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor opened the Class 1A Sigel St. Michael Junior High Baseball Regional with a resounding victory over Ramsey, 16-1 Tuesday.

SSW led 4-1 after two innings then broke loose for a 12-run third that ended the game.

Collin Kinkelaar tossed a no-hitter with one walk and five strikeouts.

Kinkelaar also aided the team offensively with two hits and an RBI. Wernsing had one hit and drove in five runs. Kasey, Welsh and Kirby had two RBI each.

Stew-Stras/Windsor will now face Neoga at noon Saturday.

In the first game, Findlay Okaw Valley bounced Mulberry Grove 13-3.

Findlay Okaw Valley now faces Sigel St. Michael at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Class 1A Effingham St. Anthony Regional

Palestine ended Effingham Sacred Heart's season in the Class 1A Effingham St. Anthony Regional.

Palestine edged the Shamrocks 10-9 in the opening contest.

In the second game, Dieterich won over Martinsville 11-1. The third game went to Oblong over Newton St. Thomas 5-4.

Palestine advances to face St. Anthony at 10 a.m. Saturday. Dieterich and Oblong will square off at noon.

 

Class 2A Teutopolis Regional

Altamont edged Lawrenceville 5-4 in the Class 2A Teutopolis Regional.

The two teams were tied at 1-1 in the first inning. Lawrenceville moved ahead with a two-run third and then pushed that to 4-2 in the fifth. But Altamont had a three-run seventh to pull out the victory.

Cripe had a single, double and three RBI for the winners while Abendroth added a double and an RBI. Cripe picked up the pitching win.

Altamont now moves to face Teutopolis at 10 a.m. Saturday.

In the second game Tuesday, Brownstown/St. Elmo was a 10-5 winner over Red Hill (Bridgeport).

BSE will face North Clay (Louisville) at noon Saturday.

At Lawrenceville

Class 2A Shelbyville Moulton Regional

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City saw its season come to an end in the Class 2A Shelbyville Moulton Regional.

Casey-Westfield tallied a 9-3 victory over CHBC. The two teams went scoreless through the first three innings. Casey-Westfield then broke loose with a four-run fourth, tallied one in the fifth and four more in the sixth. CHBC scored its three runs in the seventh.

"I had an awesome group of young men and it was a pleasure to get the opportunity to show up every day and work with such great kids," said CHBC Coach Michael Nelson. "Despite our record, we had a lot of fun and hopefully, developed our skills as well as our love for the game."

Class 3A Effingham Regional

Mattoon ended Jasper County's season in the Class 3A Effingham Regional.

Mattoon won 17-9 and will now face Charleston at 10 a.m. Saturday.

In the second contest, Tolono Unity downed Champaign Franklin 6-4. Tolono Unity takes on Effingham at noon Saturday.
