Junior High Baseball Results -- Sept. 10

LOUISVILLE -- Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor captured the championship of the North Clay (Louisville) Junior High Baseball Tournament Saturday.

SSW edged Effingham B 3-2 in round one. SSW stepped out to a 1-0 first inning lead.  Effingham B tied in the third. SSW moved ahead in the top of the fifth with two runs. The Mustangs tallied a run in the bottom of the frame but fell short.

Wernsing had two singles and two RBI for the winners.  Effingham was led by Burgess with two singles.

In the second game, North Clay defeated Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick, 13-3 in six innings.

North Clay pounded out 12 hits led by Zimmerman with three singles and an RBI, Clifton with a single, home run and two RBI, Bible with a single, double and two RBI, Griffy with two singles and four RBI and Ingram with a double and an RBI.

Collins led CHBC with a double and two RBI.

In the third place game, Effingham B downed Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 9-3 behind 12 hits. The Mustangs held a 4-0 first inning lead.

Blickem had two singles, a home run and three RBI for the Mustangs. Eaton had a solo homer. Volpi, Burgess and Matteson had two singles each. Matteson added an RBI.

In the championship game, North Clay jumped out to an 8-0 first inning lead and never looked back in a 15-0 win in four innings over Stew-Stras/Windsor.

Bible and VanDyke combined to pitch a two-hitter with both pitchers giving up a hit each. Bible had two strikeouts and VanDyke one strikeout.

Zimmerman had two singles, a double and three RBI while Ingram had a double and two RBI and Griffy two singles and two RBI.

Windsor/StewStras had singles from Kinkelaar and Wernsing.
