Effingham St. Anthony captured the championship of its own round robin junior high baseball tournament Saturday.

The Bullpups opened with a 12-5 win over Paris Mayo.  St. Anthony took a 1-0 first inning lead and never let go, scoring five in the third and four in the sixth.

Moore had a single, double and two RBI for the Bullpups while Link added two singles.

Sigel St. Michael then defeated Paris Mayo 11-10 in the second contest.

The third game went to St. Anthony over St. Michael 9-4 to win the title. St. Anthony again stepped out to an early lead, going to 3-0 in the first.

Antrim had a single and triple while Mendella added two singles and two RBI, Reardon and Walsh two singles and an RBI each and Moore a double and an RBI.

St. Michael was led by Niebrugge with two doubles and an RBI and Walk with a single, double and an RBI.

At Effingham

Effingham claimed both an A and a B game victory over Jasper County Saturday.

Effingham won the A contest 5-0, scoring a run in the third and four in the fourth.

Woomer led the Mustangs with two singles, a double and an RBI while Loy added a double. Jasper County had singles from Rice and Smith.
In B action, Effingham took a 1-0 first inning lead and went on for a 7-5 victory.

The Mustangs had 10 hits led by Perry and Matteson with a single and double each. Matteson had three RBI and Perry  one. Burgess had two singles and an RBI.

At Neoga

Neoga edged Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor 4-3 with a come-from-behind three-run bottom of the seventh.

SSW edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead before Neoga tied in the third. SSW led 2-1 after four and 3-1 in the sixth. Neoga then scored three runs to pull out the win in the bottom of the seventh.

Neoga had three hits by Romack, O'Dell and Schisler. Shisler had two RBI.

Kirby led Stew/Stras Windsor with three hits and an RBI while Kinklaar and Beals had two hits each.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis won an A doubleheader over Mattoon. The Wooden Shoes tallied an 8-1 victory in the opener.

Deters had a single, two doubles and two RBI while Hardiek added two singles and an RBI and Konkel two singles.
In the second contest, the game went 13 innings before T-town pulled out a 2-1 win.

Both teams had eight hits. T-town was led by Bushur with two singles, a double and an RBI, Ruholl with a double and Hardiek with two singles and an RBI.

In the B game, Teutopolis fell to Highland 11-4. Highland broke a 1-1 tie with a six-run second and never looked back.
T-town outhit Highland 10-6. Althoff had a single and double while Bannick had two singles and two RBI.
