Babe Ruth Prep League -- July 14

Taylor Law Offices edged out to a 2-0 first inning lead then had to fight off Mid-Illinois Concrete for a 9-8 victory in Babe Ruth Prep League Baseball action Thursday at Evergreen Hollow Park.

Mid-Illinois went ahead 4-3 in the second but Taylor Law came back with four runs in the third to lead 7-4. Mid-Illinois tied the score with two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth then took an 8-7 lead in the sixth. Taylor Law scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to pull out the win.

Taylor Law had nine hits led by Kenny Helmuth, Dylan Evans and Bradin Lankford with two singles each.

Logan Antrim and Alex Eirhart had two singles each for Mid-Illinois.

In the second contest, Effingham Asphalt defeated Wohltman Construction 18-10. Wohltman held a 4-3 lead after three before Asphalt came back with a seven-run fourth and an eight-run fifth.

Jack Blickem and Kaleb Bolyard had three singles each for the winners.

Austin Faber led Wohltman with a single and double.
