Cubs, Cardinals Get Ready For Second Half of Season

Major League baseball is taking one final day off today for the All-Star break before getting back in action Friday with a full slate.

The Chicago Cubs will be hoping the time off will get them back to early season form. The Cubs are leading the Central Division in the National League with a 53-35 record. The St. Louis Cardinals are sitting in second place seven games back while the Pittsburgh Pirates are 7.5 games back.

The Cubs will play host to the Texas Rangers Friday in a 1:20 p.m. game while the Cardinals are back in action hosting Miami in a 7:15 p.m. contest.

In the NL East Division, the Washington Nationals are leading the way with a 54-36 mark. The New York Mets and Miami Marlins are tied for second place, back six games.

In the West Division, the San Francisco Giants are in front with a 57-33 mark. The Los Angeles Dodgers sit in second 6.5 games back.

In the American League East, the Orioles of Baltimore are at 51-36 on the season with the Boston Red Sox and Toronto Blues Jays only two games back in second.

In the Central Division, the Cleveland Indians are 52-36 with the Detroit Tigers 6.5 games back in second.

The Texas Rangers lead the West Division with a 54-36 mark. The Houston Astros trail in second place 5.5 games back.
