Effingham Post 120 Juniors Sweep DH

NEWTON -- Effingham Post 120 Junior Legion traveled to Newton Thursday and swept a baseball doubleheader.

In the first game, Effingham scored four runs on only two hits and posted a 4-1 victory. Bryce Lohman, Colin Koester and Brett Koester combined to give up only one run on four hits.

Effingham scored its first run in the second inning to tie the game on a two-out hit by Lohman. Effingham went ahead to stay in the fifth when B. Koester had a base hit with two RBI to round out the scoring.

In the second game, Effingham trailed by two runs heading into the last inning but rallied with four hits and scored six runs to win 7-3.

Parker Seachrist earned the pitching win. Offensively, Joe Kabbes went two-for-two with an RBI while B. Koester had a single and two RBI. Alex Morrissey, Ben Strullmeyer and Lohman also had a hit each.

Effingham will host Teutopolis at Paul Smith Field at 11 a.m. Saturday.
