The Chicago Cubs recalled Spencer Patton. Patton is a South Central High School graduate.

He has appeared in 26 games for Triple-A Iowa and has a 1.04 ERA and has struck out 42 in 26 innings.

He was acquired from the Texas Rangers in November. He pitched for the Cubs in spring training with nine appearances for a total of eight innings. He didn't give up a run while striking out 12. He also made one relief appearance with the Cubs earlier this season. The righthander will be wearing No. 40.

In other action, the Cubs optioned right-hander Adam Warren to Triple-A Iowa and selected Gerardo Concepcion's contract. They also placed Clayton Richard on the 15-day disabled list because of a blister on a left finger.
