Effingham High School graduate Chad Green is going back to the minors after his Major League baseball debut Monday with the New York Yankees.

The right-hander pitched four innings plus two batters against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He gave up six runs, four earned, on eight hits. He didn't allow a walk. The Yankees lost the game 12-2.

"There is never a good time to have a game like this," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. "I wasn't sure what we were going to get from Greenie. I thought he did a decent job."

Green was optioned back to the minor leagues.

"It was an awesome experience but I left some balls up in the zone and they did some damage with it," Green said. "Overall I made a couple of mistakes I am not happy with. It was OK."

The Yankees called up Rob Refsnyder from Triple A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
