Bulldogs Nab Two Wins, Area Baseball Roundup

Effingham St. Anthony picked up two victories in baseball action Friday and Saturday.

The Bulldogs downed North Clay (Louisville) Friday 5-2. The Bulldogs had eight hits in the contest led by Drew Gibson with a single and double. Adam Levitt and James Kabbes had a single and an RBI each.

North Clay was led by Warren with a single and two RBI.

In action Saturday, Newton stepped out to a 2-0 first inning lead but St. Anthony came back with a four-run second and went on for a 10-5 victory.

The Bulldogs had eight hits led by Gibson with a double and two RBI and James Kabbes with two singles.

Newton was led by Luke Geier with a single, doubleel and three RBI and Brock Mammoser with a double.

Altamont handed Dieterich a 4-1 loss in Friday competition. Altamont leaped out to a 2-0 first inning lead.

The Indians had five hits, all singles by Klaiton Wolff, Kaleb Whitt, Nick Miller, Caden Miller and Alex Biggs. Jake Finn had two RBI.

Dieterich was led by Poe and Radloff with two singles each.

Branden Hosick was the winning pitcher on a six-hitter with three walks and five strikeouts.

Teutopolis pounded Newton 11-1 in six innings in action Friday. The Wooden Shoes had a five-run second and a three-run third.

T-town had three home runs in the contest by Smith, Bueker and Kreke. In total the Shoes had 12 hits. Bueker picked up the pitching win on a five-hitter with two walks and two strikeouts.

Brownstown/St. Elmo edged South Central 7-5 in action Friday.

The Cougars held a 5-0 lead after four innings. BSE came back with a four-run fifth then took the lead and victory in the sixth with three runs.

Hunter Seaton had two singles and four RBI for the winners who improve to 13-12.  Noah Flowers picked up the win in relief of Denton and improves to 4-3.

South Central was led by Harpster with two singles. The Cougars drop to 10-10 on the season.

Neoga split a doubleheader with Tolono Unity in action Saturday.

Tolono Unity held a 1-0 lead after two in the opening contest but Neoga took the lead in the third and never looked back.

The Indians had 12 hits in the contest led by Drew Ramert with four singles and two RBI and Trevor Easton with a single, double and three RBI.

The game was delayed almost an hour in the bottom of the sixth because of lightning.

In the second game, Tolono Unity claimed a 7-1 victory. Neoga led 1-0 after one but Unity tallied three in the second and three in the third.

Matt Kingery had two singles and Guy Walk a single, double and an RBI for Neoga. The Indians are now 15-10 on the season.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg picked up a doubleheader over Sullivan Saturday.

WSS won the opener 14-3 in five innings. The Hatchets had 11 hits, four of those were extra base hits. Nic Hutchinson had a single, triple, home run and five RBI while Chase Thies had two singles, a home run and three RBI. Christian Kessler had a home run and an RBI.

Isaac Kramer and Hutchinson combined to throw a four-hitter. Hutchinson picked up the win, striking out four while Kramer had five strikeouts.
