T-town Blanks Charleston, Area Baseball Roundup

CHARLESTON -- Teutopolis High School's Austin Johnson and Devin Smith combined to pitch a one-hitter as the Wooden Shoes blanked Charleston 8-0 in baseball action Monday.

Johnson went four innings, allowing one hit, no walks and striking out three. D. Smith came on in the fifth to pitch a no-hitter with no walks and seven strikeouts.

The Shoes banged out 12 hits in the contest led by D. Smith with three singles and an RBI, Johnson with two singles and an RBI and Kyle Smith with a single, home run and an RBI.

T-town improves to 13-5 on the season while the Trojans dropped to 10-4. T-town plays host to  St. Anthony today. Be sure to listen to the game on 97.9 XFM.

Dieterich stepped out to a 2-0 second inning lead then tallied an 8-0 win over Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick.

C. Thoele pitched a two-hitter. Poe had a single and a solo home run for the Movin' Maroons while Radloff had three singles and McClain two singles.

BCCH was led by Grove and Black with a single each.

Brownstown/St. Elmo brought home 10 runs to blank Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran.

BSE tallied three runs in the second and had a big six-run fifth to end the game via the 10-run rule.

Lewis Brown pitched a one-hitter with four walks and seven strikeouts.

Noah Flowers and Dalton Denton had two singles each. Denton added three RBI. BSE evens its record at 9-9.

Newton outlasted Red Hill (Bridgeport) 13-10. The Eagles jumped out to a 9-1 opening inning lead and never relinquished it.

The Eagles had 13 hits led by Meinhart with a single, two doubles and an RBI, Bierman with a single, double and two RBI and Mammsoer with two doubles and five RBI.

The Eagles improve to 7-4 on the season. and play at Mattoon today.

South Central tallied a 5-3 victory over Vandalia. The Cougars held a 1-0 second inning lead and led 3-1 after three. Vandalia pulled within 3-2 in the fifth. South Central then had a two-run top of the seventh and held off a bottom of the inning challenge.

The Cougars were led offensively by Harmeier with a double and two RBI.
