San Francisco Giants ace Madison Bumgarner will miss at least one spring training start because of two minor injuries but says he will be ready to pitch Opening Day.

Bumgarner told reporters Sunday that he has a nerve issue, called a neuroma, in his left foot as well as rib-cage pain on his right side.

Bumgarner said he received a cortisone shot in his foot, and an MRI on his side revealed no significant oblique injury.

The Giants scratched Bumgarner from his scheduled spring training start Sunday against the Padres, but the left-hander said he could have pitched if it were a regular-season game.

Bumgarner also acknowledged he could miss his next scheduled spring training start.

"It's not anything too serious," Bumgarner said, according to the Sacramento Bee. "We just don't want it to turn into something serious."

Dodgers Have Two Injuries

The Los Angeles Dodgers received a double dose of injury news Saturday.

An MRI on rookie shortstop Corey Seager's sore left knee revealed a mild strain, and he will miss one to two weeks, the team said. The Dodgers also scratched starting pitcher Alex Wood before a split-squad game against the Seattle Mariners on Saturday because of tightness in his left forearm.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said he was relieved with Seager's MRI results.

"You don't want to paint a bad picture, but after getting the results, we're excited," Roberts said. "He'll have to lay low for a week or two. But I guess that's the best-case scenario."

Pain in the knee forced Seager to leave in the third inning of an 8-4 spring training loss to the Los Angeles Angels on Friday.
