Altamont Lutheran Advances To State Title Game

COULTERVILLE -- Altamont Lutheran advanced to the championship game of the SIJHSAA Class S State Baseball Tournament Tuesday.

Altamont Lutheran defeated Steeleville 5-3. Hunter Brandt picked up the pitching win for the Rockets. He gave up five hits with eight strikeouts.

The Rockets had five runs on seven hits led by Brandt with two singles, Noah Teasley with a double and singles by Denver Duckwitz, AJ Kopplin, Brayden Stuemke and Sam Rubin.

In the other contest, St. Peter-Paul Catholic downed New Hope 5-2. St. Peter-Paul Catholic advances to face Altamont Lutheran at 3 p.m. Thursday for the state championship.

New Hope and Steeleville will square off for third place at 1 p.m. Thursday.
