Effingham St. Anthony captured the regional championship of the Class 1A Findlay Okaw Valley Baseball Regional Monday.

The Bullpups downed host Findlay Okaw Valley 6-1. St. Anthony trailed Okaw Valley 1-0 until the third then tallied all six runs. Hoene led the Bullpups with two doubles and an RBI, Tingley added a double and an RBI and Webb two singles and an RBI. Fonner contributed two singles.

Braunecker picked up the two-hit pitching win, allowing two walks and striking out nine.

St. Anthony advances to the Findlay Okaw Valley Sectional Saturday to face Dieterich at 11 a.m.

At Sigel

Dieterich was the winner in the championship game of the Class 1A Sigel St. Michael Regional.

Dieterich bounced Neoga 15-5 and will now face Effingham St. Anthony at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Findlay Okaw Valley Sectional.

 

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis blanked Cumberland 4-0 to capture its own Class 2A Regional championship.

T-town took a 1-0 lead in the second then tacked on two in the fourth and one in the sixth. Ungrund led T-town with two singles. He also was the winning pitcher on a one-hitter with no walks and 16 strikeouts.

T-town will advance to its own sectional Saturday and face Shelbyville Moulton at 11 a.m.

At Shelbyville

Shelbyville Moulton claimed the championship of its own Class 2A Regional Monday.

Moulton defeated Altamont 15-8 and will now face Teutopolis at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Teutopolis Sectional.

 

At Effingham

Charleston handed Mattoon a 7-5 defeat to win the championship of the Class 3A Effingham Regional.

Charleston advances to the Mount Zion Sectional Saturday to face either Champaign Jefferson or Tolono Unity at 11 a.m.
