South Central High School stepped out to a 4-0 lead over Effingham St. Anthony in the second inning and went on for a 6-3 baseball victory Monday.

The Cougars had seven hits led by Harmeier with three doubles and two RBI, Geiler a double and an RBI and Hill a double. Geiler was the winning pitcher on a three-hitter with five walks and seven strikeouts.

Greg Utz led St. Anthony with two singles. Austin Kline had a single and two RBI.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis edged out to a 1-0 lead then banged home nine runs in the second for a 10-0 win over Odin in five innings via the 10-run rule.

The Wooden Shoes' Brock Bueker pitched a two-hitter with no walks and 10 strikeouts to improve to 2-0 on the season.

Devin Smith had a single, double and an RBI while Tyler Westendorf had two singles and an RBI and Bueker a double and two RBI. Jacob Roepke added two singles. T-town is now 14-0 while Odin dropped to 7-4.

Dieterich scored in all five innings in downing Webber Township (Bluford) 14-0 in six innings due to the 10-run rule.

The Movin' Maroons banged out 17 hits in the contest led by Goedde with three singles and a double. Poe had two singles, a home run and two RBI while Radloff had three singles, a double and an RBI. Thoele finished with a double and triple.

Brownstown/St. Elmo took a 2-1 first inning lead then added on two in the second and one in the third for a 5-3 win over Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick in opening round play of the Egyptian-Illini Conference Tournament.

Landon Feezel pitched a two-hitter with three walks and 11 strikeouts. Feezel also had a single, home run and three RBI. Isaac Maxey had two singles and two RBI and Lewis Brown a triple.

BSE improves to 5-8 and will face Ramsey today at 4:15 p.m. Ramsey defeated Mulberry Grove in opening round play.

BCCH will meet Mulberry Grove at 7 p.m. today.
