CHARLESTON -- Effingham St. Anthony picked up a junior high baseball victory over Charleston Thursday, 9-6.

The Bullpups had 10 hits in the contest led by Webb with three singles and an RBI, Tingley with two singles and three RBI, Braunecker with a double, triple and an RBI and Antrim with a double and an RBI.

Braunecker was the winning pitcher allowing three hits, two runs, three walks and striking out five.

At Charleston

Flora pushed ahead 5-0 in the second inning but had to hold off a charging North Clay (Louisville) for a 9-8 win.

North Clay came back with two runs in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh innings. Jones had two singles and two RBI for North Clay while Zimdars had a double and Bible a double and two RBI.

Teutopolis came back from a 2-1 deficit after three innings and tallied three in the fourth, two in the fifth and one in the sixth for a 7-4 win over Mattoon.

The Shoes banged out 12 hits in the contest led by Addis with three singles and two RBI, Tabbert with two singles and two RBI, Pals with two singles and Schwerdt with a double.
