LOUISVILLE -- North Clay (Louisville) Junior High School defeated Effingham Sacred Heart 5-2 in baseball competition Monday.

The Shamrocks held a 1-0 lead and led 2-1 after three. But North Clay came back with a four-run fourth to pull out the victory.

Dorman led North Clay with a single, double and three RBI. Zimmerman threw a one-hitter, allowing two runs, three walks and striking out one. Burkett came on in the fourth to pick up the win.

Swingler had the lone hit for the Shamrocks with a single and an RBI.

At St. Anthony

Effingham St. Anthony bounced Flora to the tune of 16-5 in six innings Monday.

The Bullpups banged out 14 hits in the contest led by Braunecker with a single, double and two RBI, Moore with two singles and an RBI, Tingley with four singles and an RBI and Ashton with two singles.

Webb picked up the pitching win, going three innings, allowing three hits, three runs, no walks and one strikeout. Walsh pitched 2.1 innings and Tingley finished out.

At Casey

Effingham jumped out to an 8-0 first inning lead and went on to beat Casey-Westfield 12-1 in five innings via the 10-run rule.

The Mustangs had 10 hits in the game led by Kyle Pemberton with a single, double and an RBI. EJHS is now 9-9-1 on the season and will play Jasper County in regional action today.

Altamont edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead and went on for a 13-3 win over Dieterich in six innings.

Altamont had 18 hits in the contest led by Delaney, Moore and L. Ready with three singles each. Moore drove in five runs. Cripe had a double and an RBI while Buennemeyer had a double and two  RBI.

Altamont moved its record to 11-5.
