Bulldogs Edge North Clay, T-Town Wins

North Clay (Louisville) edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead but St. Anthony came back with a run in the second to knot the score and then tallied two in the third for a 3-1 victory Monday in high school baseball action.

Lovett led off the first for the Cardinals with a single. Gibson struck out the next two batters before Van Dyke singled. Both runners advanced on an error. North Clay then scored on an error on a ball hit by Blank.

St. Anthony came back in the third as Brandon Puckett drew a walk. Will Clausius reached on an error. Eli Levitt drew a walk to load the bases. Bryar Jansen was then hit by a pitch that brought Puckett home to tie the score.

The Bulldogs then tallied two runs in the third as Gibson drew a walk and Greg Utz followed with a single. North Clay committed an error on a ball hit by Ethan Greene to load the bases. Puckett drew another walk. Ben Mendella then had a sacrifice that tallied the second run.

Drew Gibson picked up the pitching win, going six innings, allowing four hits, one walk and striking out six. Gibson finished with a double and two walks in three at-bats.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis picked up a 7-2 win over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg in action Monday.

Lee Hardiek claimed the pitching win as the Wooden Shoes improved to 1-0 on the season. The score was knotted at 2-2 after three innings before T-town tallied a run in the fourth, fifth and three in the sixth.

The Shoes had 11 hits in the contest led by Hartke with a single and double and Roepke with two singles.

Windsor/Stew-Stras was led by Hutchinson, Theis and Kramer with a hit each. The game was also the season opener for WSS.

T-town will host St. Anthony Wednesday at 7 p.m.
