Teutopolis Post 924 Drops Game at Fifth Division Tournament, Shelby County Wins Big At Fourth Division Tourney

CARMI -- Teutopolis Post 924 fell in opening round play at the Fifth Division American Legion Baseball Playoffs Monday.

T-town dropped a 7-4 loss to Harrisburg Post 167. T-town drops into the loser bracket where it will face the loser of game five at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

In the only other game that was played, Mount Vernon blanked Herrin 3-0. The game featuring Carmi and Murphysboro was postponed because of lightning and storms through the area. That game has been pushed to 11:30 a.m. today. The winner then faces Mount Vernon at 5 p.m. today and the loser of that contest will take on Teutopolis Wednesday.

Other games pushed back today include Edwardsville against Harrisburg at 2 p.m. in winner bracket play and Herrin taking on the loser of the Carmi vs. Murphysboro contest at 8 p.m.

 

Fourth Division Tournament

Shelby County American Legion Post 289-611-725 picked up a big victory in the Fourth Division Tournament at Wabash Park Monday in Rantoul.

Shelby County defeated top-seeded Danville Post 210, 5-3, to advance to the semifinals. Shelby County tallied two runs in the first and three in the second for a 5-0 lead. Danville scored a run in the third and sixth innings but could never get untracked.

Christian Vonderheide pitched the nine innings, allowing nine hits, two earned runs, two walks and striking out eight.

Alex Allen had a single, double and an RBI while Tyler Romack and Jayden Cole had two singles and two RBI each. Tyler Hendryx had a double and triple.
