Saturday Baseball Regional Results

Several area teams are moving on to sectional baseball competition after wins Saturday in regional championship games.

The St. Anthony Bulldogs will play in their own sectional after posting a 6-1 victory over the Oblong Panthers in the championship of the Dieterich 1A Regional. 

For St. Anthony, Jacob Lorenz doubled and walked and scored a run, Bryar Jansen singled twice and scored a run, Drew Gibson doubled and scored, James Kabbes singled and scored, Braden Puckett had three base hits and scored a run, Greg Utz singled three times and doubled and scored a run, Brandon Puckett walked twice, and Zach Gardewine singled.

Zach Gardewine got the regional championship win for the Bulldogs.

St. Anthony will play Thursday at 4:30pm in semifinal action against the Neoga Indians. Neoga defeated the Cumberland Pirates, 2-1, to win the Cumberland 1A Regional.

The Altamont Indians will also play in the St. Anthony Sectional after defeating Brownstown/St. Elmo, 5-0, to win the North Clay 1A Regional. Altamont will take on Edwards County, who won their own regional by defeating Cisne, 11-2. That game will begin at 4:30pm Wednesday.

Caden Miller got the win for Altamont, allowing just four hits and walking two while posting 11 strikeouts. Noah Flowers took the loss for B/SE.

Brady Winn had three hits for Altamont including a home run. Klaiton Wolff had two hits, as did Finn, other hits for Altamont came from Guerrettaz, J. Miller, Beccue and Thomas Caravello.

Landon Feezel had two hits for B/SE while Lewis Brown and Noah Flowers also had hits.

Brownstown/St. Elmo finished their season with a 12-15 record.

The Wednesday and Thursday winners will play Saturday at 10am for the sectional championship. All games in the sectional will be played at Evergreen Hollow Park in Effingham.

Okaw Valley won the Central A&M Regional championship, defeating Windsor/Stew-Stras, 9-0. W/SS had to play Saturday after winning a nine-inning semifinal game Friday evening.

Windsor/Stew-Stras was held to one hit, a single by Tristan Warner. Dylan Ohnesorge took the loss for the Blue Devils.

In 2A action, the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes captured the championship of the Lawrenceville 2A Regional, defeating the Flora Wolves, 10-0 in six innings. T-Town will play Wednesday at 6pm in semifinal action at the Vandalia 2A Sectional. The Wooden Shoes, now 28-5-1, will play Piasa Southwestern, who won the Gillespie Regional with a victory over Carlinville, 15-1.

Louis Niemerg pitched a no-hitter for the Wooden Shoes, allowing just three walks while fanning six.

At the plate for Teutopolis, Devin Smith singled and scored three times, Niemerg singled and drove in a run, Jordan Thoele doubled and drove in a run, Austin Hartke homered to end the game by the 10-run rule and walked, scored twice and drove in two runs, John Kreke singled, scored and drove in a run, Brock Mette doubled and singled, scored and drove in two runs, Austin Johnson singled and drove in a run, Jacob Roepke singled and scored, and Tommy Flach singled twice.
