T-town Blanks Charleston, S.C. Beats Dieterich In Baseball

The game was scoreless through the first five innings before Teutopolis High School broke loose with a four-run sixth and blanked Charleston 4-0 in baseball action Wednesday.

The Wooden Shoes had five hits in the contest led by Brock Mette and Jacob Roepke with a double each. Mette had two RBI.

Matt Koester picked up the pitching win on a three-hitter with no walks and three strikeouts. He improved to 3-0 on the season.

The Shoes are now 22-5-1 and will play host to Olney today, weather-permitting.

At Teutopolis

At Dieterich

South Central had a two-run second and tallied a single run in the seventh for a 3-1 win over Dieterich.

Brauer pitched a four-hitter with four walks and seven strikeouts for the victory. Alex Bohnhoff suffered the loss on a seven-hitter with one walk and seven strikeouts.

Smith hit a solo homer for the Cougars while Powless and Matheny had a double each. Matheny drove in two runs.

Hartke led the Maroons with two singles.

Altamont picked up a 9-3 victory over Neoga. Neoga took a 1-0 first inning lead but Altamont tied in the second then took a 3-1 lead in the third.

Altamont had nine hits in the contest led by Goeckner with two singles and Winters with a single and an RBI.

Neoga was led by Roderick with a double and an RBI and Blazich with two singles and a double.

Newton edged Edwards County (Albion) 4-3. The Eagles took a 3-0 first inning lead.  Edwards County tallied one in the second then tied the score in the fourth. Newton won with a run in the sixth.

Jansen pitched a seven-hitter with no walks and one strikeout. Mammoser had a single and a Jansen a double for the winners.
