Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon good baseball teams find ways to win. Slowly, Maddon is watching his team move in that direction. Chris Coghlan drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Cubs a 2-1 victory over the New York Mets on Wednesday night.

The Cubs, who have won three straight, scored twice in the final two innings after being shut out for seven innings by Mets ace Matt Harvey.

Harvey pitched well enough to win, allowing only three hits and struck out nine. Mets reliever Carlos Torres (1-2), however, couldn't close the deal.

Torres gave up back-to-back hits to Anthony Rizzo and Starlin Castro to start the ninth inning before intentionally walking Miguel Montero. Mets manager Terry Collins brought in closer Jeurys Familia with the bases loaded. After striking out Jorge Soler, Familia walked Coghlan to give the Cubs the win.

Indians 2, Cardinals 0

Corey Kluber shrugged his shoulders at making history. He was just as dismissive with the Cardinals. Kluber struck out 18 -- the most by an AL pitcher since Roger Clemens in 1998 -- and allowed just one hit in eight innings to get his first win this season in style, leading the Cleveland Indians to a 2-0 win over St. Louis on Wednesday night.

The reigning AL Cy Young winner, Kluber (1-5) didn't yield a hit until Jhonny Peralta grounded a clean single to center with two outs in the seventh. A small crowd of 12,313 on a crisp night at Progressive Field gave Kluber a warm ovation and he finished the inning by striking out Jason Heyward.

Kluber's 18 strikeouts tied the club record for a nine-inning game held by Bob Feller (1938), the late Indians legend who had a new exhibit opened at the ballpark in his honor before the game. As usual, the stoic Kluber wasn't impressed by his own performance, taking it in stride.

White Sox 4, Brewers 2

Jose Quintana finally got some run support. Staked to a 3-0 lead before even taking the mound, the left-hander got a win after three hard-luck starts.

Quintana struck out 10 and allowed four hits in seven solid innings before closer David Robertson escaped trouble in the ninth in Chicago's 4-2 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday night.

Chicago, which had a major-league worst three road wins entering the game, won their first road series of the season after taking two of three from last-place Milwaukee.
