T-town Blanks Dieterich; Area Roundup

DIETERICH -- Rourke Schultz and Darren Probst combined to pitch a three-hitter as Teutopolis blanked Dieterich 5-0 in high school baseball action Thursday.

T-town opened the scoring with two runs in the second inning then tacked on a single run in the fourth and two in the sixth.

Schultz pitched five innings allowing three hits, two walks and striking out two. Probst pitched the final two innings allowing no hits, no walks and striking out two.

T-town had seven hits in the contest, three for extra bases. Alex Goldstein had a single, double and an RBI while Chase Wendling had a single, triple and an RBI. Kyle Pruemer chipped in with a double.

Dieterich was led by Alex Bohnhoff with two singles. Bohnhoff picked up the loss throwing six innings allowing seven hits, three walks and striking out two.

T-town improves to 8-0 on the season while Dieterich drops to 1-9.

Stew-Stras 3, Neoga 2

Stewardson-Strasburg scored what proved to be the winning run in the sixth inning. The Comets led 2-0 after two innings but Neoga tied in the top of the third. The Comets brought home the winner in the sixth.

Mark Jones pitched a seven-hitter with two walks and three strikeouts. Hitting for the Comets were Fulk with two hits and Ohnesorge with two hits and an RBI.

Stew-Stras improves to 3-2 on the season.

South Central pushed ahead 1-0 in the first inning and never looked back in picking up the victory.

The Cougars had nine hits while Kyle Bray, Shawn Meyer and Noah Powless combined for a one-hitter. Heath Hoffman led the Cougars with a single, two-run double and three RBI. Dylan Smith and Kyle Bray had two singles each while Bray added an RBI.

South Central is now 9-1 and back in action Saturday hosting Putnam County in a doubleheader.

At Kinmundy

St. Elmo 3, Patoka 2

St. Elmo scored its winning run in the sixth inning as it downed Patoka 3-2.

Both teams had four hits in the contest but Patoka committed three errors. Connor Beasley was the winning pitcher allowing two walks and striking out 10 to improve to 3-1. Levi Maxey and Malachi Maxey had two hits each for the winners.

St. Elmo improves to 4-3, 3-0 in the Egyptian-Illini Conference and returns to action Saturday at Stewardson-Strasburg.

Beecher City-Cowden-Herrick put together five hits and five runs to down Ramsey 5-1.

BCCH broke a 1-1 tie after three innings with a run in the fourth then tallied three more in the sixth.

Joel Wheeler improved his pitching record to 2-0 going all seven innings allowing five hits, three walks and striking out 11. Wheeler also had a good offensive game hitting a three-run homer in the sixth and finishing with four RBI. A.J. Miller had a double while Colten Burrus had two singles.

BCCH is now 2-1 in the EIC, 2-6 overall and will host Brownstown today.

At Ramsey

Altamont trailed Mulberry Grove 2-1 until the fourth inning, then brought home two runs to pull out the win.

The Indians scored their first run in the first on an error and two passed balls. The two runs in the fourth came on two more errors and a double by Ziegler.

Sandoval 11, Brownstown 7

Sandoval trailed Brownstown 4-2 after three innings. Brownstown pushed across three runs in the fourth to take a 7-4 lead.

But Sandoval came back with two runs in the sixth and three in the seventh to claim the victory.
