Newton, South Central Claim Baseball Wins

RAMSEY -- South Central trounced Ramsey to the tune of 17-0 in five innings Thursday evening in high school baseball action.

The Cougars edged out to a 3-0 first inning lead then had a nine-run second and a five-run third. Trent Geiler pitched a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts.

Ratermann had two singles, a double and two RBI while Hill had two doubles and two RBI. Brauer added a single, double and an RBI.

The Cougars are now 11-3 on the season.

Tuscola handed Cumberland a 10-1 loss. Tuscola edged out to a 1-0 second inning lead then had a six-run fifth, two in the sixth and one in the seventh.

Cumberland had four hits led by Cutts with two singles.

Newton banged out 14 hits and tallied a 16-7 win over Lawrenceville.

Meinhart had a single, double and an RBI for the Eagles while Mammoser had a single, two doubles and four RBI. Geier had a single, triple and four RBI.

Newton improves to 4-1 in the Little Illini, 8-6 overall.
