EHS Drops Loss to Mount Vernon, Baseball Roundup

Effingham High School played host to Mount Vernon and fell to the Rams 5-1 in baseball action Tuesday. The Hearts scored its lone run in the second and held that lead until the fifth when Mount Vernon tallied two runs and scored three in the seventh.

 Koenig had two singles for the Hearts while five other players had a single each. Mount Vernon had nine hits and the Hearts finished with three errors.

At Effingham

North Clay (Louisville) edged Dieterich 4-1 in action Tuesday. The Cardinals tallied two runs in the second and third innings. Dieterich scored its run in the sixth.

Lovett had a single, home run and two RBI for the winners while Aldrich had two singles.

Dieterich was led by Bohnhoff with a double and Hartke with two singles.

At Neoga

Neoga picked up a 3-1 victory over Brownstown/St. Elmo Tuesday evening.

The two teams went scoreless through four innings before Neoga tallied a run in the fifth. BSE tied in the sixth. Neoga's Zach Monroe hit a two-run walk-off home run to win it for the Indians in the bottom of the seventh.

Monroe added a double to his game-winning hit. Moore had two singles.

BSE was led by Horner with a double. BSE drops to 1-3. Neoga is now 2-0 on the season.

Teutopolis stepped out to a 3-1 first inning lead then had a seven-run third and claimed an 11-1 win over Cumberland in five innings.

The Shoes banged out 11 hits in the contest. Mette had a single and double for the Shoes while Thoele had a triple and three RBI.

Cumberland was led by Mathenia with a double and an RBI.

At Teutopolis

Odin played host to Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick and handed the Eagles an 11-1 loss. Odin had 11 hits in the contest and BCCH finished with four errors.

BCCH had four hits, all singles by Jackson Bales, Cody Grove, Austin Shelton and Brady Randall. The Eagles drop to 0-2.
