Braydon Bone, a senior at Effingham High School, has signed to play college baseball at Parkland College. Front row, left to right are, Judi Bone (mother), Braydon Bone, and Steve Bone (father). Back row, left to right, Parkland Pitching Coach Jon Goebel and EHS Head Baseball Coach Chris Fleener.

Effingham High School senior Braydon Bone plans to continue his baseball career at Parkland College in Champaign. It's no surprise that Bone plans to play more baseball, but you might be surprised that the Cobras plans to concentrate on Bone's pitching skills.

Parkland Assistant Coach and Pitching Coach Jon Goebel Monday said Bone hit 88MPH at one point last season, and that got the Parkland coaches excited. Bone said at the signing ceremony that Parkland has indicated they'll still give him a shot at playing some middle infield between starts.

Goebel said Bone has a frame that should fill out, making him stronger and also adding some velocity to his fastball. He said Bone would definitely be a candidate to advance to a four-year school if he progresses as expected.

Here's a conversation involving our Greg Sapp and Effingham Daily News Sports Editor Ryan Czachorski with Braydon Bone following Monday's signing ceremony...
