Cardinals Spring Training Report Dates Announced, Cubs Sell Naming Rights

(Jupiter, FL) -- Spring training is only six weeks away and report dates for the Cardinals are out. Pitchers and catchers are due to arrive in Jupiter, Florida on February 19, with the first workout the next day.  The rest of the team arrives February 24, with the first full-squad workout the next day.

Former Cardinals pitcher-turned-outfielder Rick Ankiel is joining the Washington Nationals. He's been hired by Washington to mentor their minor league players as a life skills coordinator. Ankiel last played with the New York Mets in 2013. He played for the Nationals in 2011 and 2012.


Cubs Sell Spring Stadium Naming Rights

The Cubs have sold the naming rights to their spring training ballpark in Mesa, Arizona. They will be playing at Sloan Park after the Sloan Valve Company purchased the rights. This will be the second season at the new facility.


Sox Announce Deal With Bonifacio

(Chicago, IL) -- The White Sox have officially announced a one-year contract with utilityman Emilio Bonifacio. The deal is worth three-million-dollars with a one-million-dollar buyout and a four-million-dollar option for 2016. He hit .259 with three homers, 24 RBI and 26 steals in 110 games with the Braves and Cubs last season.
