(San Diego, CA) -- The Cardinals are adding a power bat to the roster.  On the last day of the Winter Meetings, they signed free-agent first baseman Mark Reynolds to a one-year contract. He batted just .196 with Milwaukee last season, but slugged 22 home runs. Reynolds can also play third base.

Baseball's Winter Meetings ended with the Rule 5 Draft Thursday. With the 16th selection, the Cardinals nabbed 25-year-old, right-handed pitcher Tyler Waldron from the Pittsburgh Pirates organization in the Triple-A Phase of the draft. He finished last season at Triple-A Indianapolis.
