NEOGA -- Effingham St. Anthony showed power with the bats in blanking Neoga 11-0 Thursday evening in high school baseball action.

Bech Hecht and Austin Bushur banged out home runs as the Bulldogs took a 2-0 first inning lead. Zach Gardewine hit a homer in the second as the Bulldogs pushed their lead to 4-0. St. Anthony went to 6-0 in the fifth and tallied five more in the seventh. Bushur hit a first inning solo home run and a three-run homer in the seventh.

Gardwine was the winning pitcher as St. Anthony moved to 2-0 on the season. The Bulldogs will be back in action Saturday playing Webber Township (Bluford) in a varsity/junior varsity doubleheader at Hendelmeyer Park.

South Central 11, Stew-Stras 5

South Central picked up an 11-5 victory over Stewardson-Strasburg. The Cougars edged out to a 3-2 first inning lead then taliled three in the fourth and five in the fifth. Stew-Stras made a comeback attempt in the bottom of the seventh but fell short.

Stew-Stras had 12 hits while South Central had 11. Daniel Diss pitched the victory allowing 12 hits, one walk and striking out four.

Stew-Stras is back in action Tuesday against Brownstown. South Central returns to play Tuesday against Cisne.

Windsor 15, Beecher City 1

Windsor opened the season by trouncing Beecher City 15-1 in a National Trail Conference contest.

Aaron White picked up the pitching win going four innings, allowing no hits, one run and striking out five. Trey Leasher came on to pitch one inning and continued the no-hitter with two strikeouts.

Alex Allen had two singles, a triple and four RBI while Tristan Warner had two singles, a double and four RBI.

Teutopolis 9, Woodlawn 3

Teutopolis picked up its second win of the young season by beating Woodlawn 7-1. The Shoes edged out to a 1-0 lead. Woodlawn tied in the top of the second but the Shoes regained the lead in the bottom of the frame and pushed it to 3-1 in the third. T-town then had a three-run fifth and tallied a final run in the sixth.

Wendling had two hits and an RBI to lead the Shoes. T-town is back in action Satuday hosting the Wooden Bat Tournament. T-town will meet Dieterich at 9 a.m. followed by North Clay (Louisville) against Neoga at 11 a.m. The two losers square off for third place at 1 p.m. while the winners meet at 3 for the championship.

North Clay 10, St. Elmo 0

North Clay (Louisville) evened its record at 1-1 by blanking St.Elmo 10-0 in five innings.

North Clay had 10 hits in the contest as Micklautz, Cox, Clifton and Walker all went two-for three. Connor Beasley led St. Elmo with a single and a double. St. Elmo drops to 1-1 and is back in action Satuday at Beecher City.
