Stewardson-Strasburg trailed Effingham St. Anthony but had big-run innings and picked up an 18-4 victory in junior high baseball play Tuesday.

The Bullpups held a 2-0 lead until the third when Stew-Stras brought home five runs. St. Anthony pulled back within 5-4 in the bottom of the frame but Stew-Stras brought home seven runs in the fifth and six in the sixth to end the game.

Isaac Kramer picked up the pitching win. Thies had two hits and two RBI, Moschenrose had a hit and four RBI, Overbeck had a hit and two RBI, Kramer had a hit and three RBI, Kessler had two hits and an RBI and Nichols had two hits and three RBI.

Jansen led St. Anthony with two hits.

Effingham 13, Flora 8

Although Flora outhit Effingham, the Mustangs ended up pulling out a 13-8 victory to improve to 5-1 on the season.

Flora tied the score at 7-7 in the top of the fourth but Effingham pulled ahead 9-7 in the bottom of the frame and was never headed again. The Mustangs had eight hits in the contest led by Osborn with a single, home run and two RBI. Bateman and M. Hull had a single, double and two RBI.

North Clay 4, Teutopolis 3

North Clay (Louisville) improved to 3-0 on the season by edging Teutopolis 4-3. The Cardinals had only three hits in the game, two by Hartke who drove in two runs.

T-town had five hits led by B. Walker with two and three RBI.

In the B game, Teutopolis bounced North Clay 21-5.

Jasper County continues to roll along, this time the Newton school blasted Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick 15-0.

Meinhart picked up the no-hitter. Meanwhile Jasper County tallied 10 hits led by Weber with a triple and three RBI and Grunloh with two hits and three RBI. Beecher City committed eight errors.

St. Elmo was unstoppable in a win over Ramsey. St. Elmo tallied two in the first, five in the second, six in the fourth and seven in the sixth.

Feezel had a single, two doubles and three RBI for the winners while Chaney had three singles and three RBI. Brown had two singles and two RBI and Siebert had two singles and two RBI. Siebert picked up the pitching win going five innings, allowing four hits, walking three and striking out five.

St. Elmo is back in action Friday hosting Altamont.

Brownstown took a 6-0 first inning lead, batting around, then went on for a 13-2 win over Mulberry Grove.

Behrends picked up the pitching win on a three-hitter. Hunter had a single, two doubles and seven RBI.
