Giants, Cardinals Renew NLCS Rivalry

(St. Louis, MO) -- Two foes very familiar with one another renew their postseason rivalry as the San Francisco Giants face the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Championship Series. Game One is Saturday at Busch Stadium, with first pitch at 7:07 p.m. Adam Wainwright is slated to start for St. Louis, while San Francisco turns to Madison Bumgarner. The Cardinals and Giants advanced out of their NL Division Series in four games over the Dodgers and Nationals, respectively. These teams also played for the right to go to the World Series in 2012, with San Francisco rallying from a three-games-to-one series deficit to beat St. Louis en route to winning it all. The Giants also won the Fall Classic in 2010 and are seeking their third straight championship in an even year. The Cardinals are in the NLCS for the fourth straight year. Their last World Series win was in 2011 against Texas. The Giants won four of the seven meetings with the Cardinals during the regular season this year, including three-of-four in St. Louis.
