Orioles Rock Tigers In Game One

(Baltimore, MD) -- The Orioles broke open Game One of their American League Division Series with the Tigers using an eight-run, eighth inning to grab a 12-3 victory at Camden Yards. Jonathan Schoop and Alejandro De Aza capped the inning with two-run doubles. Nelson Cruz finished 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Chris Tillman battled through five innings, giving up two runs and striking out six for the win. Detroit's offense came from three solo homers off the bats of Victor Martinez, J.D. Martinez and Miguel Cabrera. Max Scherzer took the loss, allowing five runs across seven-and-one-third innings. The Tigers try to even up the series in Game Two in Baltimore Friday afternoon.


Moustakas, Royals Walk Off Angels

(Anaheim, CA) -- Mike Moustakas launched a solo home run in the top of the 11th to lift the Royals to a 3-2 win over the Angels in Game One of the ALDS in Anaheim. Kansas City was coming of an extra inning victory in the AL Wild Card game against the A's. Danny Duffy picked up the win and Greg Holland locked up the save. Moustakas scored two runs, while Omar Infante and Alcides Escobar each had an RBI. Kole Calhoun had two of LA's four hits. David Freese and Chris Iannetta each connected for solo shots. Fernando Salas took the loss after giving up the game-winning homer.  The Angels try to even up the series with Game Two at home Friday night.


Cardinals, Dodgers Open NLDS Tonight

(Los Angeles, CA) -- The St. Louis Cardinals and Los Angeles Dodgers begin their National League Division Series tonight at Dodger Stadium. Game One of the best-of-five series features a marquee pitching matchup. Twenty-game winner Adam Wainwright will be on the hill for St. Louis, while Los Angeles counters with 21-game winner and reigning NL Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw. The Cardinals captured the NL Central title for the third time in four years and are seeking their third World Series title since 2006 and their 12th overall. The Dodgers are the NL West champs for the second straight year. Los Angeles is seeking its seventh World Series title but first since 1988. The Dodgers won four of seven meetings against the Cardinals this year, including three-of-four in LA.

The rest of the Cardinals' NLDS rotation is set. Lance Lynn will start Saturday night's Game Two opposite Zack Greinke, John Lackey and Hyun-Jin Ryu start Game Three in St. Louis. Shelby Miller gets the ball in Game Four, while LA has yet to name its starter.


Giants, Nationals Begin NLDS Today

(Washington, DC) -- The San Francisco Giants and Washington Nationals begin their National League Division Series this afternoon at Nationals Park. Jake Peavy takes the mound for the Giants in Game One, while the Nationals counter with Stephen Strasburg. San Francisco advanced to the best-of-five division series with an 8-0 win over the Pirates in the NL Wild Card game on Wednesday. Washington earned the top seed with the best record in the Senior Circuit.  The Giants are seeking their third straight World Series title in even years after winning in both 2010 and 2012. The Nats are back in the postseason for the second time after making the playoffs in 2012. Washington took five of the seven meetings from San Francisco during the regular season this year.
