Cardinals, Pirates Both Win; Cubs Win, Sox Don't

Jhonny Peralta singled in the winning run in the top of the 10th to give the Cardinals a 7-6 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks in Phoenix. Peralta also had a two-run double in the sixth for St. Louis, which is still up a game on the Pirates for first place in the NL Central.

Matt Adams scored twice for the Cardinals.

Michael Wacha allowed two runs in five-plus innings, while Marco Gonzales picked up the win. Trevor Rosenthal added his 45th save.

Didi Gregorious knocked in two runs for Arizona, which has lost three straight. Ender Inciarte was four-for-six with a run and a RBI in defeat. Evan Marshall was saddled with the loss.

Meanwhile, Vance Worley tossed 6-1/3 innings of one-run ball to guide the Pirates to a 3-1 win over Cincinnati at the Great American Ball Park. Jared Hughes locked up the win in relief. Gaby Sanchez hit a solo homer while Andrew McCutcheon and Travis Snider also drove in a run for Pittsburgh. Mark Melancon added his 33rd save for the Pirates.

Mike Leake allowed one run in seven innings while Pedro Villarreal took the loss for the Reds. Kris Negron was three-for-four with a RBI for Cincinnati, which has lost two of three.

Pittsburgh and the Reds play again today at 12:05pm, while the Cardinals and Diamondbacks tangle at 7:10pm.

Chris Coghlan went two-for-four with a solo homer and three runs scored as the Cubs downed the Brewers at Miller Park. Neil Ramirez got the win in relief while Hector Rondon notched his 28th save as the Cubs won their third straight.

The Cubs play at Milwaukee tonight at 6:10pm.

The Royals are headed to the postseason for the first time since 1985 after a 3-1 win Friday over the White Sox at US Cellular Field in Chicago. It ends the longest postseason drought of the four major North American sports. The Sox have lost four straight.

Kansas City will play again at The Cell at 6:10pm tonight.
