Cubs Beat Astros

CHICAGO (AP) -- David DeJesus has been haunted all season by unfavorable winds at Wrigley Field. He got the best of the Friendly Confines on Wednesday.

DeJesus hit two home runs, Justin Germano breezed through six innings and the Chicago Cubs beat the Houston Astros 7-2 to win the three-game series.

Asked how many home runs he thinks he's missed out on this year, DeJesus, who now has four on the season, couldn't help but grin.

''The other day when I hit one against Bronson (Arroyo) and it was caught at the wall, I came running in and (manager Dale Sveum) was like 'You should have at least 10 right now,''' DeJesus said. ''So when your manager's saying that, I'll take 10.''

Starlin Castro also homered among his three hits for Chicago, which won for just the third time in 15 games. The Cubs avoided falling to a season-worst 26 games under .500.

Frese, Craig Guide Cardinals To Victory

ST. LOUIS — Adam Wainwright allowed two runs in six innings and the St. Louis Cardinals got home runs from David Freese and Allen Craig in a 5-2 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks Wednesday night.

Rafael Furcal's two-run triple in the sixth gave the Cards a three-run lead.

St. Louis homered twice for the second straight game and will go for a sweep of the three-game series behind 12-game winner Kyle Lohse on Thursday night.

The Cardinals are 5-0 against the Diamondbacks this year and have won seven straight dating to last year.

King Felix Hurls Perfect Game

(Seattle, WA) -- Felix Hernandez tossed the first perfect game in Mariners history in a 1-0 win over the Rays.  "King Felix's" perfecto was the third of the season and only the 23rd in MLB history.  It was the second perfect game and third no-hitter at Safeco Field this year alone.

Cabrera Hit With 50-Game Suspension

(San Francisco, CA) -- Giants outfielder Melky Cabrera has been hit with a 50-game suspension for testing positive for testosterone.  Cabrera was enjoying a career year, batting .346 with 11 homers and 60 RBI.  Cabera, who didn't dispute the suspension, was named the MVP in the All-Star Game last month.
