Bulldogs Beat North Clay, T-town Sweeps Dieterich

Effingham St. Anthony High School took advantage of its hits and four walks to hand North Clay (Louisville) a 5-2 loss in baseball action Thursday.

The Bulldogs edged out to a 2-1 first inning lead then had a three-run third. Jacob Lorenz, Drew Gibson, Kyle Bourgeois and Brandon Puckett all had a single each. Bourgeois had two RBI.

North Clay also had four hits by McNeely, Byers, Stinnett and Colt VanDyke, all with a single each.

Kyle Bourgeois picked up the pitching win on a four-hitter with no walks and eight strikeouts.

At Dieterich

Teutopolis captured a doubleheader over Dieterich. T-town won the opener 14-2 with a six-run third.

The Wooden Shoes had 10 hits in the game and were aided by four Dieterich errors. L. Niemerg had a single, double and an RBI while J. Bloemer had two doubles and four RBI. J. Thoele and A. Hartke had a double and an RBI each and B. Mette two singles and an RBI.

Dieterich was led by T. Poe with two singles and an RBI.

In the second contest, T-town blanked the Maroons 12-0. T-town led 5-0 until the seventh then tallied six runs. L. Belleville and L. Deters combined to pitch a two-hitter, each allowing one hit. Belleville had nine strikeouts while Deters had eight.

B. Bueker had two singles, two doubles and three RBI while B. Bueker had three singles and an RBI, M. Koester a double and three RBI and Belleville two singles and an RBI.

Dieterich had singles by D. Flach and P. Thoele.
