Cubs Handle Nationals

(Chicago, IL) -- Ryan Sweeney singled in two in the fourth to help the Cubs in a 7-2 win over the Nationals at Wrigley Field. John Baker went 3-for-3 with four RBI as Chicago won its third in four games. Jason Hammel improved to 7-and-5 after throwing six-and-a-third innings of two-run ball. Tanner Roark allowed four runs in six frames while falling to 7-and-5 for Washington. Adam LaRoche went 2-for-4 and connected on a solo homer as the Nats lost their third straight.

Cardinals Handle Dodgers

(Los Angeles, CA) -- Yadier Molina hit a solo homer while Jhonny Peralta ripped a two-run double as the Cardinals dropped the Dodgers 3-1 at Chavez Ravine. Carlos Martinez allowed one run but lasted just four-and-a-third innings for St. Louis. Seth Maness got the win in relief while Trevor Rosenthal notched his 24th save as the Cards won their fifth in seven games. Dee Gordon went 3-for-4 and knocked in the lone run for Los Angeles while Hyun-Jin Ryu gave up three runs over seven frames, falling to 9-and-4. The Dodgers had won five of their last six.

White Sox Power Past Jays

(Toronto, Canada) -- Jose Abreu went deep twice to help the White Sox knock off Toronto 5-4 at Rogers Centre. Alexi Ramirez clubbed a two-run homer while Dayan Viciedo added a solo shot. John Danks grabbed his seventh win with six innings of two-run ball, and Jake Petricka earned his second save. The White Sox snapped their two-game skid. R. A. Dickey gave up all five runs and struck out nine to fall to 6-and-7 for the Blue Jays, who have still won three out of five. Colby Rasmus hit a pinch hit home run in the loss while Edwin Encarnacion and Dioner Navarro added solo shots.
