Cubs Clip Phillies 
 
(Philadelphia, PA)  --  Starlin Castro lifted a two-run homer in the fourth to help the Cubs clip the Phillies 2-1 from Philadelphia. Jake Arrieta struck out nine over seven scoreless innings for his second win. Neil Ramirez locked up his second save for Chicago, which snapped a two-game skid. Roberto Hernandez allowed the homer for his fifth loss. Hernandez and his manager, Ryne Sandberg, were ejected in the sixth inning for throwing at a batter and arguing. Domonic Brown knocked in the only run for Philadelphia, which had won three straight.

Cardinals Clip Nationals 
 
(St. Louis, MO)  --  Lance Lynn tossed a two-hit gem to guide the Cardinals to a 1-0 win over the Nationals from Busch Stadium. Lynn struck out eight over eight innings for his seventh win. Trevor Rosenthal locked up his 18th save for St. Louis, which has won four of five. Matt Adams homered in his first game off the disabled list. Jordan Zimmermann went the distance and struck out five as he dipped to 5-and-3. Washington has lost two straight.

Royals Top White Sox 
 
(Chicago, IL)  --  Kansas City pounded out 12 hits to knock off the White Sox 7-2 at U. S. Cellular Field. Eric Hosmer drove in two in the win while Jeremy Guthrie improved to 3-and-6 after five-and-two-thirds innings of two-run ball. Billy Butler and Lorenzo Cain tallied two RBI each for the Royals, who have won five consecutive games. Jose Quintana gave up six runs in six frames to fall to 3-and-7. Adam Eaton and Jose Abreu drove in a run each for Chicago, which has dropped its last two.
