COMSTOCK PARK – The Midwest League announced Monday West Michigan Whitecaps’ pitcher Chad Green has been added to the Eastern Division All-Star roster as an injury replacement.

The addition increases the number of Whitecaps in the All-Star Game to a league-leading seven players, including five pitchers from the league’s top-ranked pitching staff. The 2014 Midwest League All-Star Classic is June 17 at Fifth Third Ballpark.

Green, a 23-year-old out of the University of Louisville and an Effingham High School graduate, is 1-2 with a 3.44 ERA through 11 starts this season. The hard-throwing right-hander has 57 strikeouts and just 13 walks in 65.1 innings. He has been especially productive since May 1, posting a 2.48 ERA over that time. Green joins fellow starting pitchers Jonathon Crawford, Buck Farmer and Austin Kubitza, as well as reliever Joe Mantiply, on the Eastern Division All-Star roster.

Second baseman Javier Betancourt and outfielder Wynton Bernard will also participate in the game as reserve position players.
