Windsor/Stew-Stras Advances to Sectional Championship

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg advanced to the North Clay 1A Sectional championship game Thursday with a 4-3 win over Albion Edwards County in Louisville.

The Blue Devils trailed 2-0 when they scored twice in the fourth inning to tie the game.  Windsor/Stew-Stras took their first lead of the game when they scored in the bottom of the sixth, but Edwards County bounced back to tie the game in the top of the seventh.  The Blue Devils responded, though, scoring in the bottom of the seventh to win the contest.

Christian Vonderheide got the win in relief, pitching the final 1-1/3 innings, allowing the tying run, but being the pitcher of record when the Blue Devils scoring the winning run in the seventh.  Mark Jones started and pitched the first 3-2/3 innings, allowing two runs on four hits.  Alex Allen pitched two scoreless innings, allowing two hits and fanning one batter.

Dylan Ohnesorge homered for Windsor/Stew-Stras, one of two hits he had and he drove in two runs.  Christian Vonderheide, Allen, and Devon Deremiah also each had two hits.

Windsor/Stew-Stras is now 27-8 on the season and will play Saturday at 1pm at Louisville, taking on South Central for the sectional championship.  Saturday's winner will play Monday at 5pm at GCS Park in Sauget for the super-sectional title.
